Drivers who have larger capability requirements may need more truck than you can get with a light-duty model, no matter how well-equipped. That’s where vehicles like the Ram 2500 come in. This heavy-duty model offers just the right capability to tow a trailer or boat on the weekends (or every day on the worksite), without compromising its on-road capability. But what’s new on the 2018 Ram 2500?
Ram 2500 Changes and Updates for 2018
While the essential character of the Ram 2500 has remained consistent for the 2018 model year, there have been a few tweaks and enhancements to make this model even better. We’ve divided them roughly by category.
Special Editions and Styling
We’ve already written about the Limited Tungsten edition that was all new this year. This ultra-luxury trim will be available on the 2018 Ram 2500 for the first time this year as well as on the 2018 Ram 1500. Drivers who want some special appearance accents without going all the way for the elite luxury of the Tungsten can enjoy a Sport model appearance upgrade.
The 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system and radio will be available on the 2018 Ram 2500. This system features improved visuals and pinch-to-zoom capability. Available connectivity and entertainment advantages include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, USB Flip, HD radio, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability. The Sirius Guardian suite of vehicle services will also be available, including Vehicle Finder, Send and Go navigation integration, Remote Services, SOS, and Assist.
Ram 2500 Capability: New and Returning
Drivers will be able to enjoy a new remote exterior truck bed switch for LED bed lights and a Fleet Telematics Module in the 2018 Ram 2500. The previous year’s engine options will be returning to offer up to 17,980 pounds of towing potential when properly equipped (need more towing? Check out the trailering of the 2018 Ram 3500). The Ram 2500 will also be available with two rear suspension options: a five-link coil system, or an available air suspension.
