Why Did Dodge and Ram Split Up?
At Fury Ram Truck Center, every day we are posed with endless compelling questions from our clients. Here’s an interesting one we get from time to time: What happened to Dodge RAM? If you’re just jumping back into the truck world you may stop to question if you’ve fallen victim to the Mandela effect, but you can rest assured that your memory is serving you well. So, why exactly did Dodge and Ram split up? Read on for the answer!
Why Did the Dodge and RAM Brands Separate?
Dodge and RAM formally separated into their own independent brands in 2009, though both are still owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group (FCA). The brands split so that each could further develop their own distinct strengths. The shift allowed RAM to focus more on hard-working capability and its commercial vehicle line. On the other side, Dodge had the opportunity to improve its performance-tailored vehicles while taking on rival family vehicles with a competitive suite of technology features.
Though Dodge RAM is now just RAM, the meaning is the same no matter what you call it. It’s the brand truck shoppers default to when they want something dependable, savagely capable and packed with all the features you could ever want from a modern pickup.
